foundingGIDE at Euro-BioImaging Image Data Community Days

foundingGIDE at data days

Among the highlights of the event was the dedicated foundingGIDE session, which offered an in-depth look at specific technical aspects of the project. The two-hour session focused on:

  • The harmonization of bioimaging metadata schemas among major bioimage data repositories
  • How different design purposes affect ontology structure and vice-versa, and how the BioImage Archive is approaching their re-use in their data models
  • The limitation in the FAIRification of preclinical image datasets and an overview of the activities of the foundingGide project to address these challenges
  • The concept of persistent identifiers (PIDs) and their applications in research, with a focus on adoption strategies within the bioimaging community

The session featured Dario Longo, Shuichi Onami, Francois Sherwood and David Poger.

The session attracted an average of 100 participants, demonstrating strong interest from the community in these critical topics for advancing image data interoperability. We thank all the speakers and participants for their contributions and look forward to continuing these conversations at upcoming foundingGIDE event in October 2025 in Brisbane, Australia (hybrid format).
