Highlights from Latin American Imaging Scientists’ Study Visit
From September 9th to 13th, 2024, Global BioImaging hosted a Study Visit at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. The event welcomed several research facility managers and imaging scientists from across Latin America, providing a unique opportunity for international collaboration.
As one of the key partners of foundingGIDE, Global BioImaging plays a crucial role in driving the mission to build a Global Imaging Data Ecosystem.
During the visit, Latin American researchers, imaging facility managers, and network coordinators shared their experiences from across the continent. Key discussions centered around topics such as open-access imaging infrastructures, training opportunities, and fostering future collaborations between European and Latin American scientists. Workshops also focused on the implementation of FAIR data principles and best practices in data management.
As foundingGIDE strives to found a Global Imaging Data Ecosystem, global representation and engagement are essential. The presentation of foundingGIDE during the study visit provided valuable insights into the data management challenges faced by our Latin American counterparts, strengthening the potential for future partnerships.
