foundingGIDE at Euro-BioImaging All Hands Nodes Meeting 2025
The Euro-BioImaging All Hands Nodes meeting took place in person at EMBL Heidelberg from March 25-28, 2025. This annual event is a cornerstone for the Euro-BioImaging community, bringing together scientists from across its Nodes to foster connections, inspire collaborations, and engage in discussions on key topics that drive the operation and future development of Euro-BioImaging’s cutting-edge imaging services

The annual Euro-BioImaging All Hands Nodes Meeting brought together scientists from Euro-BioImaging Nodes to connect, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and discuss key topics related to Euro-BioImaging operations and imaging technology developments. FoundingGIDE hosted a dedicated session where partners presented ongoing efforts to harmonize metadata schemas and identify a recommended set of ontologies for the imaging community. foundingGIDE was also featured during the poster session.

As part of this session, foundingGIDE organised a panel discussion focused on the question “What do the Nodes need to improve their data management practices?” The panel aimed to explore Node-level challenges in implementing effective data management and to share experiences from across the Euro-BioImaging community. Each panelist gave a brief opening statement outlining whether their Node was engaged in large-scale data management initiatives, highlighting benefits such as improved visibility or challenges such as user adoption, technical compatibility issues, or funding limitations. The discussion also addressed whether imaging facilities are developing their own solutions for data storage, metadata standardisation, or interoperability.
The insights gathered during these sessions will continue to inform the project’s activities and ensure that the solutions developed are closely aligned with the real-world requirements of the imaging community.
