foundingGIDE session at Euro-BioImaging All Hands Nodes Meeting 2024
The Euro-BioImaging All Hands Nodes Meeting 2024 took place in the vibrant city of Torino, Italy, from Wednesday, April 17th to Friday, April 19th, 2024. This annual event is a cornerstone for the Euro-BioImaging community, bringing together scientists from across its Nodes to foster connections, inspire collaborations, and engage in discussions on key topics that drive the operation and future development of Euro-BioImaging’s cutting-edge imaging services.
Among the highlights of this year’s meeting was the introduction of foundingGIDE, a significant new initiative aimed at enabling global image data sharing. Aastha Mathur, Scientific Coordinator of foundingGIDE, presented the foundingGIDE objectives to the Euro-BioImaging community. foundingGIDE is addressing some of the most pressing challenges in biological and preclinical imaging data, the interoperability of image data resources, by working towards consensus together with the community on metadata harmonisation and providing ontology recommendations.
By engaging with diverse communities such as Euro-BioImaging, foundingGIDE aims to build the foundations for more seamless, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) image data sharing across borders and disciplines, supporting scientific discovery and innovation on a global scale.
