Join us for an exciting 5-day event where we will work together with experts on imaging ontologies and metadata. The event will focus on practical next steps to make these key components of image data management useful to the scientific community.
There will be a limited number of selected participants.

Focus: Imaging Ontologies and Metadata
Possible projects include:
- Ways to make metadata visually understandable and useful
- Including ontologies in existing workflows
- Exploration in embedding varied metadata in OME-NGFF
- Ontologies for bioimage metadata
- Next-Generation File Format (NGFF)
- OMERO in-depth usage and development guide
- foundingGIDE insider ideathon
- Call for more topics (travel grant provided)
Format:
- flexible team formation and rotation
- full attendance is NOT required
The registrants can also feel free to suggest topics and we will pick up a subset of these during the hackathon.

Related events
The BioImage Hackathon is preceded by the foundingGIDE Community Event and by the Global BioImaging Exchange of Experience 2024 event. FoundingGIDE community event will bring together various stakeholders from the global imaging data community to Okazaki, Japan. Global BioImaging event will focus on the topic of “Image Data Horizons – Global Strategies for Accessible Knowledge“. Both events take place at the same location from 29th of October to 1st of November 2024.
We encourage you to make use of this opportunity and attend the back-to-back events that focus on global image data sharing. Please keep in mind that each of the three events has its individual registration form.
