foundingGIDE aims to establish the basis of a coordinated Global Image Data Ecosystem by developing common recommendations for ontologies and metadata, together with the wider global bioimage data community.
At #foundingGIDE we are dedicated to championing best practices in image data sharing and facilitating the exchange of bioimage data among major repositories. We aim to leverage the network of experts at Research Infrastructures and various community initiatives to make image data a FAIR global resource.
A key step towards creating a global image data ecosystem is to connect the community. We invite you to the first foundingGIDE community event that will bring together various stakeholders from the global imaging data community to Okazaki, Japan.

The event will focus on ideas exchange between bioimage data producers and consumers, data resource owners and maintainers, and bring them together with funders, policy makers, and other relevant stakeholders to identify the current landscape, needs, and directions of future developments in the global imaging data ecosystem.
The foundingGIDE community event is preceded by the Global BioImaging Exchange of Experience 2024 event on the topic “Image Data Horizons – Global Strategies for Accessible Knowledge“, which takes place at the same location from 29th to 31st of October 2024. We encourage you to make use of this opportunity and attend the back-to-back events that focus on global image data sharing.
