Following the International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) 2024 online, it was clear that accessibility and inclusivity were key themes. The hybrid format ensured global participation, reinforcing the importance of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and CARE (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, Ethics) principles in research data management. These discussions align with foundingGIDE’s mission to enhance interoperability and standardization in biological and preclinical imaging data.

The panelists of ICRI session on “Building infrastructures and scaling up Data sharing on a global scale” emphasized high-quality metadata, ethical data curation, and sustainable data management to build trust and prevent global AI and data resource divides. foundingGIDE actively supports these principles through our work on metadata harmonisation and ontology recommendation, ensuring interoperability and standardisation of imaging data.

Next steps

ICRI 2024 reinforced the need for ethical, sustainable, and inclusive data management. foundingGIDE remains committed to these goals and invites collaboration to shape a globally accessible research data ecosystem.

Join us at foundingGIDE Community Event in Brisbane 2025 to continue the discussion.
